Where is Argo located?
Argo is a nomadic art school. This means that it changes location each semester. Our first semester, in July 2025, will be in Greece. The specific location will be revealed closer to the application window as we finalize all the details.
How many courses do you offer? In what subjects?
We offer a range of subjects related to the arts, including practical art skills that emphasize hands-on learning across media and theoretical courses to provide a critical context for students’ individual studio practices.
While each semester offers a unique blend of subjects, our comprehensive range of courses includes fundamental practical skills (drawing, painting), expanded studio skills (sculpture, textiles, new media, photography), movement & performance, and theoretical courses (contemporary art contexts, European culture and art history).
We also offer workshops to help students develop special skills, such as professional business practices for artists and sustainability and ecology workshops.
How many units can I take with Argo?
We expect each student to take our core courses: Thinking Through Drawing, Contemporary Art Contexts, and Historical Themes. In addition, students can choose one (or sometimes two) hands-on art skills, such as Painting, Performance & Movement, Textiles, Photography, or Sculpture. Which you can choose depends on the semester.
Each of these courses will be worth 2 units. This means most students will receive 8 credits (or units) from a semester at Argo.
Is Argo accredited? Do all of the credits earned in this program count toward a student’s degree?
We offer college credit for all our courses. Our curriculum has been designed to match the highest academic standards, and our teachers are skilled professionals in their respective fields who hold MAs and PhDs. This means that, in most cases, your home institution will accept a transcript from Argo directly, and grant you college credit for the course.
What is the student housing like?
Every student has a private room, and this is included in the cost of the program. Our accommodation is simple but beautiful - you have space to prepare meals at home. You will live near other students, and your teachers will also be close, but you’ll have space and time to explore on your own.
Is there financial aid for this program? What about scholarships?
Yes, we accept financial aid via your home university. We also offer scholarships for students who can’t otherwise afford to study with us.
What are all of the costs?
The cost of a program at Argo includes:
〰️ Tuition for all courses, so you are free to attend as many as you wish. 〰️
〰️ Materials for all classes, and materials for you to use in your free time (within reason). 〰️
〰️ Six weeks of accommodation, including a few days in Athens at the beginning of the program. 〰️
〰️ Transfers from Athens airport to the city, and then to the location of the school. 〰️
〰️ A field trip to a culturally important site, plus accommodation during the trip. 〰️
〰️ A welcome dinner when you first arrive at the school, and shared meals every Friday evening. 〰️
〰️ A printed catalogue of the final exhibition. 〰️
However, it doesn’t include your airfare or meals during the semester.
Is it safe?
Yes. Greece is one of the safest countries in Europe, and we take our responsibility towards our students very seriously. While studying at Argo, you will be supported by a dedicated student coordinator, who is always there to help you with any issues or concerns.
How do you get from Athens to the school?
The cost of your program includes the cost of transportation from Athens to the school. We will meet you at Athens airport when you arrive, and can give you advice on how to use public transport if you want to explore on your own.
What art supplies should I bring?
Whatever you can carry! We will supply you with materials for all of your classes, but if there is something special you’d like to use, please bring it along.
How do I apply?
Applications for our Summer 2026 program will open on January 1st 2026.
